Our History

STEAM School-Lyceum was founded in 2020 in Almaty’s Medeu district during the global challenges of the pandemic. From the beginning, the school was created as a response to society’s need for innovative and inclusive education.

The initiator and founder is Elvira Amangeldievna, an educator with over 30 years of experience in education and inclusion. She was inspired by her mother’s story — a teacher who devoted her life to children — which became a symbol of continuity, love for children, and a commitment to equal opportunities for everyone.

With the support of parents and the teaching community, the school grew rapidly: starting with primary classes, it expanded to middle school and became home to more than 150 students, including children with special educational needs.

STEAM School Philosophy

Our system is built on three pillars that shape daily practices and long-term goals.

  1. 01

    Inclusivity

Recognized by the International Forum of Inclusion Practitioners (IFIP) as a Global Flagship Inclusion School. For us, inclusion is not a project but the foundation of the entire educational system.

  2. 02

    Innovation

We integrate international practices, project-based learning, psychomotor therapy, and the Bizdin Auyl initiative connecting children with nature, culture, and practical skills.

  3. 03

Harmony of Traditions and the Future

We combine Kazakhstan’s national values with international standards, preparing children for a world where technology and culture go hand in hand.

STEAM School Almaty is not just a school, but a community where every child can unlock their potential, gain confidence, and take the first steps toward a successful future.
